Understanding the fundamental rules of baseball
BASICS
The Objective
Score more runs than your opponent by hitting the ball and running around the bases. Each complete circuit around the bases scores one run.
Teams & Positions
Each team has 9 players with specific positions: pitcher, catcher, first baseman, second baseman, third baseman, shortstop, and three outfielders.
Innings & Outs
A game consists of 9 innings, with each team batting once per inning. Each team gets 3 outs per inning before switching between offense and defense.
Strikes & Balls
A batter gets 3 strikes before being called out. Four balls result in a walk to first base. A strike is a swing and miss, a foul ball, or a pitch in the strike zone not swung at.
